Purchasing commercial truck insurance

Posted on November 12th, 2010 No Comments

Businesses using 18-wheelers or semi-trucks are not only legally obligated to purchase some form of commercial truck insurance policy, but also may want to consider further insurance options to better protect the company and its employees.

One of the most widely purchased commercial truck insurance options is primary liability insurance.  Primary liability insurance will help cover the cost of damages to a truck caused in an accident or while on the road.  Another option is general liability insurance.  This type of coverage helps to cover the cost of any damage done while a truck is not on the road.  For example, if a truck is damaged by hail or vandalism.

Purchasing truck cargo coverage insurance can help protect a business’ belongings if they are damaged or stolen from a truck.  Lastly, non-trucking insurance can help to cover the cost of damages done to a truck while out of use.  For instance, if a truck is damaged while being stored in a company facility or garage.

Purchasing commercial truck insurance does not have to be expensive and can save a business money in the long run.  Contact Affordable Auto Insurance Quotes today to get an online affordable truck insurance quote.

How to know whether your vehicle is totaled

Posted on November 5th, 2010 No Comments

Even minor crashes can cause significant damage to a vehicle that can end up costing thousands of dollars. If a person has collision coverage and are involved in an accident, the insurance company may be paying for the cost of repairs. If your car needs more repairs than it is worth, the car will be considered totaled and the insurance company will give the person a check for what the car is worth.

After an accident, it may be hard to determine how extensive the damage is and it is better to not describe your vehicle as ‘totaled’ when talking to the insurance company. The term ‘totaled’ can only be determined once all of the repair costs have been added up. If the frame of your vehicle has significant damage, the vehicle will not start, or the transmission has a lot of damage, your vehicle is probably totaled.

If you are driving an uninsured motor vehicle, it is not only against the law, but it will also cost you a significant amount of money out of pocket if you are involved in an accident. Contact us today to receive an affordable SUV insurance quote today.

Allstate warns drivers and pedestrians on Halloween

Posted on October 29th, 2010 No Comments

This week, Allstate Insurance Company is making a point to remind drivers and pedestrians to be extra careful this Halloween holiday.  With trick-or-treaters walking around at night, it is important that drivers be alert and cautious on the road.

“Because this Halloween falls on a weekend, there may be even more kids and cars on the road late at night, potentially creating a dangerous situation.  Whether driving or walking with kids during trick-or-treating, it’s important to remain alert,” stated exclusive Allstate agent Brook Daly.

One of the main points Allstate is trying to stress is to avoid texting and driving or walking.  Both driver and pedestrians are putting themselves at danger by distracting themselves with texting.

Steps to take after an accident

Posted on October 15th, 2010 No Comments

No matter  how safe of a driver a person may be, accidents can still occur. This is why it is important to know the appropriate steps to take in order to keep you and your passengers safe.

Right after an accident occurs it is important to get out of the vehicle and move to a safe location away from moving traffic. Then, immediately after doing this, medical professionals should be contacted if there is anyone injured.

Besides medical help, police officials should also be called so that they can file a police report on the incident. This will be helpful later on when filing an insurance claim on the accident. Last, make sure that you exchange your information with the other drivers in the accident even if they are reluctant to give it to you.

What is a car insurance deductible?

Posted on October 15th, 2010 No Comments

Although purchasing car insurance for the first time may seem intimidating, there are only two main things to understand when learning about car insurance policies.  The two major components of a car insurance policy are the premium and the deductible.  The premium is simply the cost a car insurance company will charge you for your coverage plan.  A premium is determined by insurance providers using a number of vehicle and driving-related criteria.

Deductibles can often be more confusing for first time car insurance buyers.  Most car insurance policies have a fixed rate deductible that must be met before the provider will begin paying for any repairs or other costs.  For example, if you are in an accident and have a $500 deductible, the first $500 of repairs has to be paid by you.  Once you have paid your $500 deductible your car insurance provider will cover any additional costs.

Different factors are taken into account when auto insurance premiums are being determined. These factors are set by insurance companies after studying accident statistics and determining what are the characteristics of riskier drivers.

A few factors that will affect your car insurance premiums are your age and gender. The younger a driver is the less experience he or she has therefore,  insurance providers raise the premium for teenagers are higher because they are more likely to get in an accident. Also, the type of car that y0u drive will be a factor. The more expensive and flashy a car is, the more it will cost to insure.
